The Collaborative Summer Library Program has announced that Newbery Award-winning author Kate DiCamillo will be the 2015-2016 National Summer Reading Champion. As part of her role for CSLP, DiCamillo has written a short comic, Incandesto, incorporating her characters from Flora & Ulysses to promote summer reading. The comic is illustrated by KG Campbell, the illustrator for Flora & Ulysses.
The comic is available as a free download at http://www.cslpreads.org/nationalsummerreadingchampion/. In addition, Public Library Systems will each receive a batch of the printed comics for distribution.
Also available on this website is Kate DiCamillo’s “Top 10 Reasons to read this summer” flyers downloadable in 8” x 11” format and 11” x 17” format, as well as a letter from Kate DiCamillo to all readers.
DiCamillo will be available to visit libraries during the summer of 2016. More information about this opportunity will be sent out later this spring.
