2013 Summer Reading Partner Manuals now available

12/20/12 – The New York State Library is pleased to announce the release of two summer reading partnering manuals for 2013:  “2013 School Library Partner Manual” and “2013 Early Literacy Partner Manual.”

The “2013 School Library Partner Manual” contains complete information for school libraries and schools to partner with a public library, or public library system, to help all students gain the full advantage of summer reading. It also has full resource lists for books, recordings, and websites related to the 2013 theme, Underground, and slogans, “Dig into Reading” (children) and “Beneath the Surface” (teens).

The “2013 Early Literacy Partner Manual” contains complete information for child care providers and schools to partner with a public library, or public library system, to help children and young families gain the early literacy skills needed to succeed in school in the years ahead. It also has early literacy resource lists for books, recordings, and websites related to the 2013 theme, Underground, and slogans, “Dig into Reading.”

The partner manuals can be downloaded from the “Summer Reading at New York Libraries” website http://www.nysl.nysed.gov/libdev/summer/ , click on “Downloadable Materials” and scroll to the bottom of the page.

Also available on the “downloadable materials” page are summer reading flyers and brochures to share with educators and parents.

In January this information will be shared with School Library Systems, School Libraries, and Childcare Facilities.
